Queen Rearing Workshop with Mel Disselkoen: On-the-Spot Method Queen Rearing
The April 2020 workshop was cancelled. The rescheduled date is April 24, 2021.
"On the spot queen rearing" was discovered and popularized by Mel Disselkoen. He learned that you can easily direct the bees to raise queen cells on any frame with 36-hour or younger larvae by moving the queen to another hive and notching below said larvae. The original now-queenless colony will quickly raise high-quality queen cells you can use to requeen or increase your colony count.
This workshop will include instruction on OTS theory and technique, along with hands-on time in the A2B2 apiary.
